What's new in PDK 3.2

We've just released version 3.2 of our Player Development Kit (PDK), which offers a lot new features PDK users have been asking for. Here are the highlights:

Omniture media tracking support. Add a single line to your player control to configure the player with your Omniture account number and other settings, and you're set. If you are currently using the beta version of the Omniture control, you should upgrade your player to version 3.2 to get the final version.

Support for Adobe's Encrypted Real-Time Messaging Protocols (RTMPE and RTMPTE). These protocols let you send streams over an encrypted connection without requiring certificate management. RTMPE is supported in Flash Player 9 and later. It's easier to deploy and is much faster than SSL, and can be tunneled to ensure connectivity through network firewalls. You can get more details on these protocols on Adobe's web site.

PDK plugin help. In the technical resource center, go to the updated PDK user's guide for more details on how to build plug-ins that work cross-domain.

Additional updates include:

  • Beta support for Google Analytics. Contact your account manager at thePlatform if you are interested in using Google Analytics for usage tracking.
  • Support for overlays that telescope into video ads, and then jump back to the main clip on completion.
  • Define chapter end times for content that includes dead air between chapters.

For more details on these updates, see the release notes in our technical resource center, where you can also download the PDK installer.
