White-box QA Engineer / SDET
thePlatform, a subsidiary of Comcast and the industry-leading provider of broadband video management and publishing solutions, is hiring additional SDET / White-box QA Engineers. These positions afford the opportunity for career growth into other areas of the company over time.
thePlatform helps content providers and video sites meet their unique broadband video publishing requirements. Our services scale with our customers' operations and support their business model with an open, versatile approach to providing the ideal technical solution for their needs. Our proven media management and publishing technology helps customers find audiences via syndication, generate revenue via broadband video advertising, create compelling playback experiences, and more.
Because developers are the ones who interact with our servcies through thePlatform's SDK, our QA engineers must know how to exercise the product as developers. All our QA engineers write test code in Java and C# to automate functional tests, measure performance, and load test our services. These are highly technical positions that challenge every aspect of one's software engineering skills.

Responsibilities:
- Write automated tests for our services.
- Partner with developers to create test plans from functional specifications.
- Design, implement, and run automated test code using our Java and C# test harnesses.
- Perform load and stress testing.
- Contribute tools to the QA team's test suites and testing infrastructure.
- Represent QA in design, functional requirements, and code reviews.
- Take ownership for the quality of the product that is shipped.
Requirements:
- Background in testing or development of database-driven web applications and service-oriented architecture.
- Either solid Java or C# experience, preferably in building JUnit or NUnit tests.
- Strong QA skills: planning, bug isolation, bug report writing, troubleshooting.
- Ability to automate complex workflow in test cases.
- Ability to design, run, and analyze web stress and load tests.
- Strong communication skills.
- A keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving and testing.
- Experience with any of the following a plus: SQL Server; Oracle; web services; J2EE; .NET.
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience. Recent Computer Science graduates are encouraged to apply.
