Senior Systems Engineer

thePlatform, a subsidiary of Comcast, the industry-leading provider of digital media publishing solutions, is growing and hiring a Senior Systems Engineer for our Network Operations team.

Our Network Operations team utilizes the latest technologies to support our high-availability, high-traffic applications in a 24×7 data center. Our software and network infrastructure powers high-profile destinations for CNBC, Microsoft, Comcast, Verizon and many others who demand strict uptime and security standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide monitoring, maintenance and on-call support for our hosted application data center.
  • Work with the Network Operations team to design and deploy network and hardware infrastructure.
  • Enforce operations and security policies in the hosted environment.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as second-tier support for our NOC/Support team.
  • Help ensure that customer SLAs are met at all times.
  • Respond quickly to downtime situations.
  • Communicate regularly with development and support teams regarding system status and implementation schedules.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 to 10 years experience within a Network Operations team providing on-call support for public, 24×7 hosted services.
  • Expertise in the administration of Linux and Windows based servers and networks.
  • Experience required with: Windows 2000/2003, Linux/Unix, Apache, Tomcat, IIS 5.0/6.0, Active Directory, HP Proliant servers, and various monitoring tools.
  • Experience the following a plus: Cisco IOS, Cisco ASA/PIX/FWSM, CiscoWorks LMS 2.5, F5 BigIP 9.x, MySQL, SQL 2000/2005, SQL clustering technologies, SAN technologies, Linux, and scripting technologies.
  • Storage/SAN experience highly desired, particularly with HP EVA solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • A keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • A dedication to customer satisfaction.
  • MCSE, CISSP, CCNA, CCDA, RHCE, or other relevant certifications desirable.
