Visible Measures
The Visible Measures Data Collection Layer's player tracking occurs by completing a basic instrumentation of the video player using a lightweight plug-in provided by Visible Measures.
Through the extremely straightforward instrumentation, Visible Measures is able to capture all of the information for various events that occur through the video player. This information is sent back to the Visible Measures Data Collection Grid using a standard HTTP GET request. In this way, the deep and relevant aspects of player interaction events are tracked allowing analysts to get a broad view of how their videos are being consumed.
When integrated with thePlatform, Visible Measures collects and provides analytics in the follow categories:
- Engagement and Viewership: This set of reports provides fundamental insights into which videos the audience is watching.
- Technical Profile Reports: This set of reports exists at all levels of scope and provide insight into the makeup of the audience accessing the site.
- Geolocation Reports: This report provides the Geolocation that the end-user's IP address resolves to. The location of the user is available at the country, region, and city level of specificity.
- Distribution Reports: This category of reports focuses on where the video clips are consumed by end-users as the video player is embedded into blogs, Web pages, and other destinations.
- Virality: This category of reports provides insight into the way in which videos are passed along and spread by end users.
